Technology has penetrated marketing for decades, changing the game of how businesses used to operate especially in the marketing field. By embracing digital marketing, marketers now can go beyond traditional paper advertisements to directly infer and shape the customer behaviour.

Digital Marketing or “eMarketing” is the use of  multiple channels and technologies to analyse, build, connect, and deliver value to customers and the organisations. Businesses leverage digital channels such as search engines, social media, email, and websites to connect with current and potential customers. 

Why digital marketing matters?

Cumulative data anticipates a 276.9% increase in worldwide retail ecommerce sales over the most-recently tracked period, expecting $4.8 USD trillion global ecommerce sales by 2021.

No doubt digital marketing, in its various forms,  can benefit companies. Nonetheless, consumers rely on SEO, social platforms and other devices to find product information which eventually affect their buying decision. 

Furthermore, the wealth data available now means every marketing message should reach targeted audiences with limited wastage. Marketers’ perspectives on consumer data remain positive, they believed that regulations and consumer sentiment will not limit data collection in the future. Increasingly sophisticated customer experience expectations forces companies to make no mistake. If the seller does not meet those expectations, customers will find someone who will, as stated in Forrester Analytics, 54% say they’re willing to experiment with other sellers.
